چکیده:
During Imam Ali’s (a.s.) rule, the people of Kufa lived comfortably with respect to food, shelter, accommodation, and access to drinking water. Imam Ali (a.s.) granted a pension to retired and weary Muslims and non- Muslims. He acknowledged and observed the rights of prisoners and captives. In Imam Ali’s (a.s.) view, human rights originate in believing in God, and it is man’s responsibility toward God that guarantees the fulfillment of justice in the human society and the observation of human rights.
خلاصه ماشینی:
"The reason why in the world today we are witness to so much op- pression and violation of rights in countries which claim democracy and observation of human rights is that there is no belief in God, no consid- eration of divine reward and chastisement, and unruly, power-hungry leaders intend to establish discriminations, proft tyrants, and privilege special individuals.
s. ) belief in God and Judgment Day that acts as the origin of observ- ing human rights and exercising justice.
Imam did not state that he accepted it for establishing prayers and fast- ing and for moral refnement, for such matters depend on the people’s choice and belief and there is no forcing in them; however, being the greatest mission of governments, observing the rights of people would not be feasible without resorting to power and determination; oppres- sors and tyrants shall not bow down unless law is vigorously enforced.
In his governing orders to one of his agents, Imam emphatically reminds him of God: "… And for God’s sake, for God’s sake, do not neglect the lower classes, the poor, the needy, and the help- less… and for God’s sake, protect their rights which God has left in your hands, …" (ibid) In other words, it is God’s command that obliges rulers to observe people’s rights.
s. ) perspective, the source of human rights was a divine matter originating in believing in God. Bibliography • The Holy Qur’an • Nahj al-Balagha • Jordac, George, al-Imam ‘Ali Sawt al-‘Adalat al-Insaniyyat, Beirut, Dar al-Maktaba al-Sa’sa’a • Al-Majlisi, Muhammad Baqir (1403 A."
