"FTA, at both local and global/universal levels, takes the empirical data of natural sciences as the evidence of the intelligent purposeful agent having a hand in the origin, structure, and evolution of the universe, so that the apparent cosmic coincidence among the physical constants as well as the events, from physical to biological and psychological ones, indicate some purposeful fine-tuning leading to a life-permitting and even intelligence-permitting world.
Timothy McGrew and his colleagues have divided contemporary cosmological design arguments in two main types: "[1)] the Life Support Argument (LSA), which urges that the relatively local features of cosmos (our Galaxy, the Sun, the Earth, the Moon) are unusually hospitable to life, and [2)] the Fine-Tuning Argument (FTA), which takes its cue from the fact that a multitude of physical constants must apparently take precise values or stand in exacting ratios to each other in order to make our universe as a whole hospitable to organic life" (McGrew et al 2003: 200).
All of these arguments, and any argument included in this set / group too, may confirm some agent that may give some order in natural phenomena, but it may be so that such agent has not personal characters attributed to God as well as may has not created the world in the sense that in theological tradition the creation of the universe is attributed to God. But, as a matter of fact, all arguments that make use of a thing such as "end", design", "order", "fine-tuning" and so on in the nature have been, and continue to be, attractive."
