"این مقاله، فراخوانی است به تأمل در ارایه پاسخ برای پرسشهایی که به چند نمونه آنها اشاره میشود: آیا الگوی جامعه اطلاعاتی همچون الگوی لرنر، داعیه اعتبار جهانی ندارد؟ و آیا به محو و کمرنگ شدن تفاوتها، هویتها و اصالتهای محلی و منطقهای کمک نمیکند؟ شکلگیری جامعه اطلاعاتی، آیا به معنای بسترسازی عملی جهانیسازی نیست؟ آیا جهانیسازی به معنای فراگیر ساختن ایدئولوژی سرمایهداری و الگوی غربی توسعه نیست؟ آیا جهانی سازی، عملا تنوع فرهنگی را تهدید نمیکند؟ آیا سکاندار اصلی کشتی جامعه اطلاعاتی و جهانیسازی، غرب و در راس آن آمریکا نیست؟ تولید ساختار و محتوای اصلی در جامعه اطلاعاتی در دست چه کسانی است؟ بیشترین سهم تولید، توزیع و مصرف اطلاعات، متعلق به چه کشور یا کشورهایی است و تکنولوژیها را چه کسانی صادر میکنند؟ آیا بازار اطلاعات، یک بازار مشابه سایر بازارهای آزاد نیست و قوانین تجارت آزاد بر آن حاکمیت ندارد؟ در شرایط حضور و حاکمیت شرکتهای فراملیتی، بازار جهانی اطلاعات و ارتباطات، عملا در دست کیست؟ جامعه اطلاعاتی جهانی، آیا صورت مشروع و بزک شده دکترین جهانیسازی نیست؟ در جامعه اطلاعاتی، آیا فاصله میان فقیر و غنی کاهش یافته یا عملا این شکاف، عمیقتر شده است؟ آیا آمار مهاجرت نخبگان از کشورهای در حال توسعه به کشورهای موطن جامعه اطلاعاتی، افزایش نیافته است؟ آیا هدفهای جهانیسازی با شعارهای زیبای یونسکو و سایر سازمانهای بینالمللی، نظیر پیشبرد کثرتگرایی، تنوع فرهنگی، حق دسترسی آزاد و همگانی به اطلاعات، حفظ میراث فرهنگی، پاسداری از محیط زیست، حق برخورداری همگان از دانش و دستاوردهای علمی بشری، فعالیت به نفع صلح، مدارا و همزیستی و تقویت تفاهم و وفاق، عملا در تعارض نیست؟ فهرست این پرسشها را همچنان میتوان ادامه داد، اما نگاهی به سیر تحول برخی آمارهای اقتصادی، شاید اجزای تصویری را که سوالهای فوق ترسیم میکنند، روشنتر سازد: - ظهور اطلاعاتگرایی در پایان هزاره دوم با افزایش نابرابری و حذف اجتماعی در سراسر جهان در هم تنیده شده است؛ - نسبت درآمد سرانه ثروتمندترین و فقیرترین کشورها از سال 1870 تا 1989، شش برابر شده است؛ - در سال 1993 از مجموع 23 تریلیون دلار تولید ناخالص داخلی در سطح جهانی، تنها 5 تریلیون دلار سهم کشورهای در حال توسعه بوده در، حالی که 80 درصد جمعیت جهان دراین کشورها زندگی میکنند؛ - در 30 سال گذشته، سهم 20 درصد از فقیرترین مردمان جهان از درآمد جهانی از 3/2 درصد به 4/1 درصد کاهش یافت و در همان مدت، سهم 20 درصد از ثروتمندترین مردمان جهان از 70درصد به 85 درصد افزایش یافت."
