خلاصة:
The documentary film "Wind of Jinn" directed by Nasser Taghvaei deals with the representation of the "Zar" ceremony in southern Iran. In this article, the authors have tried to answer these questions by analyzing the communicative text of this film: Which dimensions of this ceremony are represented in this film? Has the film Wind of Jinn been able to document the social functions of this ceremony? And more importantly, does this ceremony give a tangible meaning to people's lives? For this purpose, the theoretical synthesis of two aspects of "Levi-Strauss's theory of binary oppositions" and "Mary Douglas's role of rituals in resolving human contradictions" was used. In terms of methodology, the method of qualitative content analysis and the method of inductive category development have been used. The analysis of findings was performed using the qualitative data analysis software MAXQDA 10, and to increase reliability (dependability), the "inter-coder agreement" tool in the software was used. Content analysis of the film yielded 5 binary oppositions, namely: opposition of disease-health; individual-collective; good-evil; self-other; and nature-supernature. The most important findings of the research are that firstly, the contradictions that Strauss sees in the nature of man and his behavior seem correct, and secondly, these contradictions, as Douglas says, are resolved through the rituals of Badjan and the ways of dealing with them through rituals, and man is able to live a ritual life to be freed from his contradictions.

We have also analyzed the film “Wind of Madness” based on the concept of binary opposition from Lévi-Strauss and Mary Douglas’s theory regarding the role of rituals in resolving human contradictions.
Our understanding of this film, based on the research findings, shows that the people of the air place concepts in pairs against each other around the issue of health, and ultimately create dual oppositions to overcome the real contradiction of their lives – namely, social, economic, and therapeutic discrimination and deprivation – psychologically.
