Forgiveness is one of humanity's unavoidable solutions for achieving justice and peace. Throughout history, humans have always sought to eliminate their fellow beings. The most important remedy for such a situation is the establishment of justice and peace, which are impossible without a broad understanding of forgiveness. Therefore, the concept of forgiveness is much broader than a simple everyday matter and is closely linked to the issue of activism and political thought. This article aims to promote forgiveness, friendship, and the elimination of resentment and violence in societies by comparing the place of forgiveness from the perspectives of Hannah Arendt and Nelson Mandela. Data analysis in the present study, in order to answer the question of what similarities and differences exist between the concept of forgiveness in Arendt's political thought and Mandela's activism, has been conducted using a comparative method. In this research, information was collected through library research and analyzed using a comparative method. Its main variables are forgiveness, political action, and political thought. The research findings indicate that although Arendt and Mandela view the issue of forgiveness from different perspectives, both introduce this concept as a key tool for reducing violence and establishing lasting peace. Furthermore, these two thinkers have undertaken important actions and measures not only in theory but also in practice and in the realm of politics to realize the idea of forgiveness; therefore, they are considered two noteworthy examples, especially in the field of contemporary politics.

Examining and comparing the views of Hannah Arendt and Nelson Mandela on forgiveness shows that both figures have dealt with examining the profound effects of forgiveness on politics, society, and human relations with different approaches.
Arendt considers forgiveness as a philosophical and political concept that can help create a new space for cooperation and strengthen democracy, while Mandela sees forgiveness as a seeks a practical strategy for achieving reconciliation and rebuilding society after a period of violence.
