In this program, selecting a worthy mentee plays a central and pivotal role in the success of the mentoring program; therefore, the purpose of the present research is to identify the competencies required for a business mentee.
Bird (1995) considered entrepreneurial competencies as a collection of implicit characteristics such as general and specialized knowledge, motivations, skills, attitudes, values, beliefs, abilities, personality, expertise (social, technical, managerial), mindset, and behavioral tendencies that emerge as a result of starting, sustaining, and growing a risky business (Clutterbuck, 2005).
(Refer to the image on the page) It is worth mentioning that no domestic research has been conducted to explicitly examine the competencies of business mentees.
The findings of this research, in addition to emphasizing the findings of previous studies and the framework of Klattrebek's competencies (2005) - which includes three dimensions of competencies for starting the relationship, competencies for managing the relationship, and competencies for ending the relationship for both mentor and trainee in general - provides new knowledge and information in the field of identifying trainee competencies.
The obtained findings are specifically consistent with the findings of Zakaria and Fisher (2009), Connor and Poonan (2012), Klagen and Klattrebek (2012) and the mentoring program of the University of California (UCSF) prepared by Feldman (2010) prepared, refers to competencies such as self-awareness, readiness before the session, independence, responsibility, fulfilling commitments, self-confidence, skill of asking questions, internalizing learning, conflict management and overcoming fear, which are part of the components of the Klattrebek model (2005).
