Information technology is transforming life and even the way of thinking of people around the world; very fundamental changes are taking place that connect us to a new era called the Information Age. In line with these changes, considerations and studies of national security, as well as the management of national security in cyberspace, are becoming relevant, and it seems important to examine how information technology, especially the internet, affects the national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran, more than its limitations and threats.
This article attempts to gain a general understanding of the components of national security in cyberspace and the emerging strategic and security environment, and then to examine how the internet affects the national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the military, security, political, and cultural spheres in general.
These studies are mostly one-dimensional and do not include the impact of information technology, especially the internet, on national security; therefore, it is better to pay attention to the capabilities of the main theories of international relations, namely realism 1, liberalism 2, and constructivism 3, in explaining and interpreting national security in cyberspace to address this deficiency in research.
