Today، the knowledge of regions’ strong and weak points and the existing gaps between regions is necessary for better planning and programming to deal with them. Using such indexes as economic، sociologic، cultural، sanitary and other indexes which can be good criteria for the position and place determination of these quotients، is the main solving problem factor to achieve economic welfare، sociologic health in assessing stable development. That is the more careful this process is the more effectiveness is expected. Thus in this study three methods of numerical taxonomy، factor analysis and fuzzy logic have been used for the identification of Khuzestan province counties development ranking in 1379 and in 1386. Besides this ranking، comparative analysis of these methods has been done. Results show that the development opportunities of many counties in this province in 1386 compared to 1379 have been destroyed. Results also indicate that condense variability in numerical taxonomy is less than the two other methods. In fact، this method stands between the two methods in the ranking. Perhaps the difference in multiplier is due to standardization which can omit many clustering aspects of criteria. Indeed، it seems that fuzzy logic ranking is more reliable.

Therefore, in this research, in order to understand the developmental status of the cities of Khuzestan province, using three methods of numerical taxonomy, factor analysis, and fuzzy logic, while ranking the cities of this province in terms of their degree of development, a comparative analysis of ranking methods in measuring the development of these cities has been conducted.
Therefore, the aim of this research is a comparative analysis of the application of three fuzzy, numerical taxonomy, and factor analysis methods in assessing the ranking of the development of the cities of Khuzestan province for the years 1379 and 1386.
2. Comparative analysis of ranking methods (fuzzy, numerical taxonomy, and factor analysis) in measuring development Background of the Research Studies Conducted in Iran Zarei (1387), in a thesis entitled "Determining the Degree of Underdevelopment of Regions of Fars Province", using 15 indicators, ranked the regions of Fars Province in terms of development using the fuzzy logic method.
Mansouri Saleh (1375), in another study, with the introduction and selection of 80 development indicators using information from the years 1355 and 1365, measured and compared the degree of development of the cities of Tehran province in the aforementioned time periods with the help of factor analysis and numerical taxonomy methods.
Angh's contribution highlights the prominence of the present research compared to other studies conducted in this field, as it utilizes not only numerical taxonomy and factor analysis, which have been employed in most previous research, but also the new fuzzy logic method for ranking the degree of development of various cities in Khuzestan province.
