In the present century, the philosophical school of "Logical Empiricism" (4) or "Logical Positivism" (5) rejected traditional thought as an unfruitful endeavor — in fact, as the expression of meaningless statements — based on a theory of meaning that offered a strict view on types of truth.
This theory asserts that truth consists of what follows: if the objects referred to by the names used in an elementary proposition have the same form and combination as those names have in the proposition — in other words, if the "state of affairs" (17) corresponds to the combining elements and the structure of that proposition, then that proposition is true.
" (19) Austin's correspondence theory is presented without accompanying Wittgenstein's metaphysics regarding the simple form and combination of "objects," and without the Wittgensteinian analysis of the logical structure of non-elementary propositions.
" (22) Various accounts of the correspondence theory clearly offer different answers to the problem of explaining this obvious view that in objective truth, there is something that says how things are in reality.
Of course, the term "proposition" is used as a philosophical term regarding art, but it refers to something that undoubtedly exists with that prior use; there are objections that are sometimes raised in this regard, which we will refer to later, but now we return to the third subject, namely the categorization of correspondence theorists and the question of the nature of the facts that make propositions true.
Despite what has been said, a sentence or proposition can be true or false, meaning that what it expresses about reality can be subject to truth and falsity.
