And Monday is an inauspicious day on which Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, took His Prophet, and nothing afflicted the family of Muhammad except on Monday, so we consider it an ill omen and our enemy seeks blessings from it.
37) Based on what has been said, it appears that what caused the superstition and subsequently the prohibition of travel and fasting on this day was the declaring of it as blessed by the Umayyads; as some hadiths also refer to this matter and consider it among the causes of the ill-fortune of Monday.
