The results of factor analysis also showed that degree-orientedness, excessive focus on grades, the lack of self-efficacy in conducting research and writing research works, and attitudinal factors, respectively, are the three important factors for plagiarism and failure to observe citation ethics.
Their results showed that factors such as time constraints, lack of awareness and recognition of plagiarism, strict regulations of academic courses, difficulty in accessing scientific documents and records, lack of ideas, and problems using a foreign language are the most important motivating factors for students in not observing citation ethics.
Main Category 2: Citation Tendency In this category, components such as attention to the number and accessibility of sources, tendency towards the works of individuals involved in the acceptance and publication of the article such as editors, editorial boards, and reviewers, tendency towards the works of famous and scientifically influential individuals, and negative tendency towards the works of competitors or novice researchers with lower scientific ranks, negative tendency towards certain journals, authors, and countries, are among the extracted categories.
The results of the present research showed that students consider familiarity with citation skills as a useful solution for overcoming ethical challenges and preventing plagiarism.
