Modern spirituality has been formed under the influence of the anthropological foundations of modernism, including individualism. The purpose of the present research is to examine and criticize the consequences of individualism on modern spirituality based on the thoughts of Allameh Tabatabai. This research, which is carried out in a descriptive-analytical method and with the help of library data, shows that modern spirituality under the influence of the mentioned basis, negates the common identity among human beings and assigns virtues and spiritual values to individuals. Replacing external guidance with internal inspiration and considering revelation as internal inspiration are other characteristics of modern spirituality that were created under the influence of individualistic thinking.

On the other hand, the lack of attention to the commonalities of human identity and the denial of shared innate natures leads to the rejection of the general recommendations of religion, which will make the path of spirituality more difficult and the followers more misguided.
The conceptual framework of the present writing is based on an epistemological approach, and its important distinction from the research conducted in this field is that, using the foundational method, it investigates the nature, components, foundations, and principles of individualism in Western modern spirituality and evaluates and critiques it based on the thought of Allameh Tabataba'i.
C) Examination and critique of the consequences of individualism on modern spirituality based on the thought of Allameh Tabataba'i Human individuality in individualistic thought leads to the relativization of knowledge and the personalization of individual growth and experiences.
Perhaps the root of doubt, hesitation, and the lack of constraint in matters in modernity can be attributed to this issue: because individualists pay full attention to the inner self of humans and make spiritual conduct contingent upon the inner workings of each individual, and by personalizing knowledge, they also personalize religion and spirituality.
Individualistic spirituality, with excessive emphasis on preserving individual personality and denying the shared essential identity among humans, considers spirituality also to be a matter contingent upon the person, which does not accept any general recommendation for the path of spirituality.
