خلاصة:
The Iraqi government in Mehr 1357, following increased restrictions on Imam Khomeini (RA), prohibited meetings with him. This issue led him to decide to migrate from Iraq. Imam Khomeini desired to reside in an Islamic country where his activities would not be limited. He and those around him endeavored to keep the destination of the migration secret until the last moment so that the Iranian government could not plan in advance regarding this matter. Initially, Syria was chosen as the destination for migration, but given the poor relations between the governments of Iraq and Syria, the Imam decided to travel temporarily to Kuwait and then go to Syria from there. Due to the opposition of the Kuwaiti government, the Imam decided to go temporarily to France, which did not require a visa, so that he could choose another place for residence with more opportunity. From the time of Imam Khomeini's movement towards the Kuwaiti border until his entry into Iran, various countries were evaluated. Some of these countries were reviewed by the Imam's companions. Others were suggested by the Imam's supporters in different countries or they invited him to their own countries. Various governments and organizations also tried to direct Imam Khomeini's attention toward their respective countries based on their own goals and interests. In the present article, 21 destination countries suggested by various individuals, groups, organizations, and governments have been examined.
