Clothing is a complex yet fascinating part of every individual's life, and beyond its protective role for the body, its beauty also has a significant impact on the psychology of people in society and even serves as an indicator of the character and temperament of individuals. A study of historical clothing can be the best source of inspiration for designing modern, authentic, and harmonious clothing that suits the taste of people in the present era. Miniature works, instead of being mere remnants of past history, are a very valuable historical source in the field of clothing design. In this article, the authors analyze and decompose the designed headgear in the miniatures of Kamal al-Din Behzad and Reza Abbasi, who followed different artistic schools (Herat, Tabriz, and Isfahan) and lived in two different historical eras, Timurid and Safavid. This research seeks to answer these questions: What are the similarities and differences in terms of morphology in the design of headgear in the miniature works of Kamal al-Din Behzad and Reza Abbasi? And from a morphological perspective, what characteristics do the designed headgears in the miniatures of each of the two artists possess? In this research, which was conducted with a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical method and with the help of documentary and library data, analyzing and decomposing selected miniatures from a formalist perspective, it has been concluded that in the design of headgear models, headgears with many common patterns are seen in the miniatures attributed to these two artists; however, in the miniatures of Reza Abbasi, due to the connection of the Safavid kings with foreign countries, different designs of headgear in foreign styles are also observed. In terms of line work in clothing and headgear design regarding delicacy and dynamism, Reza Abbasi is a pioneer. In the field of coloring and color selection for headgear, both artists showed more interest in white and brown colors in various dark and light shades. Finally, in the research findings, while proving the hypothesis, more precise angles of the subject have been shown.
