One of the undeniable necessities in the field of politics is to study the performance of existing political parties in a society from the time of its formation to the end of the path. The Islamic Republic Party is one of the most important and fundamental parties in Iran. This study was conducted to investigate and analyze the reasons for the suspension of the Republican Party from the perspective of party elites. In this research, the library and interview method has been used and ten party elites have been interviewed in this regard. In the end, it was concluded that the elites and elders of the Republican Party saw a dilemma when they felt contradictions between the values of the party members. Preserving the party and changing the values of the party or stopping the party with the priority of preserving the values. The elders of the party chose the second path and considered preserving the values of the party more important than preserving the symbol of the party, and this led to the cessation of the activities of the Islamic Republic Party. Finally, the reasons for stopping the party according to the interview are as follows: dichotomy among party elites, incoherence among members, inclusiveness and frontalism, how to recruit, lack of strong and coherent goals, dispersion of members' demands The party and the martyrdom of the most influential secretary general of the party, Ayatollah Beheshti

Given the role and position of the Islamic Republic Party, which states its goal in the first clause of its manifesto as follows: "The goal of the party is to continue the revolution of the Muslim people of Iran in the way of establishing the system of Islamic justice in spiritual, cultural, economic, political, and military fields.
This party left important impacts on the process of advancing the goals of the revolution in serious matters such as drafting the Constitution, preventing the isolation of religious forces in society , competing with non-religious political parties, training political agents for the purpose of governing the country, stabilizing the new political system, and creating revolutionary institutions; however, given the circumstances that arose, such as the assassination of the Secretary-General of the party (Ayatollah Dr. Beheshti) and criticisms regarding the method of party management, such as widespread membership, the heterogeneity of prevailing thoughts, the party faced failure in continuing its activities, which ultimately led to the dissolution of the party.
