The concept of poetry and its nature has long been the attention of poets and Critics. In contemporary times, especially after the emergence of poetry, the concept of poetry faced more challenges. because this concept is tied with other concepts such as innovation, tradition, and commitment. and many poets and researchers in Iran and the Arab world studied this concept. In this regard two theorists, , Adunis and Dariush Ashuri Have valuable ideas in this field.The present study want to explain the concept of poetry from the viewpoint of these two theorists. It relies on the two books "Zaman elshear" and "poetry and thought". The resualts of this research indicate that the concept of poetry in the viewpoint of these two thinker is very close to philosophy, and the philosophical approach has led to the meaning of meaning in this field. in such a way that the semantic and aesthetic aspects of poetry are strengthened against pure realistic aspects. in this way both thoughts have emphasized the existence of a poem as a factor of its richness.

In the contemporary era, especially after the emergence of modern poetry, both in the Arab world and in Iran, the definition of poetry gave way to the concept of poetry, and gradually its concept and essence faced more challenges; because it became intertwined with categories such as innovation, tradition, and commitment, and many poets and researchers addressed it.
The present research aims to explain the concept of poetry from the perspective of these two theorists and, in this regard, relies on the two books Zaman al-Shi'r by Adonis and Poetry and Thought by Dariush Ashouri.
In this research, the author's main hypothesis is based on the fact that these two intellectuals have reached two different images of the category of the West and modernity; therefore, it can be said that no research has been conducted regarding the literary thoughts of Dariush Ashouri concerning poetry and poetics.
Furthermore, the distinction of the present research from the aforementioned examples lies in its focus on examining the concept of poetry from the perspective of two Iranian and Arab scholars, namely Dariush Ashouri and Adonis; while until now, no research has been conducted on the comparative criticism of the thoughts of these two scholars, especially regarding the similarity between the two mentioned works of Adonis and Ashouri.
Ashouri's Sufi attitude regarding the concept of poetry, much like Sufism in Adonis's thought, is for the purpose of expressing the unexpressibles; that is, Sufism is a platform for expressing the poetic experience of existence.
