خلاصة:
The core of the story of the King and the Maidservant in the Masnavi-e Ma'navi is a fiery love that causes the maidservant to fall ill; however, with the illness of the goldsmith (the beloved), it becomes cold and silent, a phenomenon seen in many intense and extreme loves. The present research attempts to answer the following two questions: What is the difference between real and illusory loves? What is the cause of the silencing of intense and burning loves, and how can its coldness be prevented? A psychoanalytic analysis of this story shows that the factors behind the suppression of this intense love are the two mechanisms of projection and idealization; meaning that the lover, in their imaginary world, becomes oblivious to realities, becomes excessively excited by fragmenting love and not seeing truths, but as soon as union occurs, their imaginary world collapses, leading to frustration and sometimes hatred. If the lover is safe from the two plagues of idealization and projection, they will never lose their passion and heat. Rumi's insightful and critical gaze in this story is very close to the psychoanalytic perspectives of this era.

There, he saw a maidservant and fell in love with her: Listen, O friends, to this story There was a king in a time before this It happened that one day the king went riding He saw a little maidservant on the highway His kingdom was of this world and also of religion The truth of our current state is that very thing With his nobles for the sake of hunting\He became the slave of that little maidservant, the king's soul (Rumi, 1390: 6) The king became enamored and infatuated with the maidservant, and for this reason, he bought her, but after a while, the maidservant fell ill: As the bird of his soul fluttered in the cage When he bought her and became possessed He gave wealth and bought that little maidservant That little maidservant, by chance, fell ill (Ibid: 6) Rumi, in the following two verses, refers to this strange law of existence and says: Sometimes a person has a donkey but no saddle, and when they buy a saddle, they lose the donkey.
The king also wept tears of blood from the intensity of his distress: Whatever they did of treatment and medicine That little maidservant became thin as a hair from illness Her suffering increased and her need became improper The king's eyes became like a stream of tears of blood (Ibid: 7) Undoubtedly, the turning of days is not always according to man's desire, and one must come to terms with this truth and accept that sometimes things are destined in such a way that everything happens contrary to what we imagine; meaning, skullcap, which causes a reduction in bile, brings an increase in bile, and almond oil increases dryness.
