The main objective of this research was "comparing the impact of the counseling performance of school counselors and out-of-school counselors on the adjustment and anxiety of gifted high school students." This study was quasi-experimental in nature, and the design used in this research was a pre-test/post-test design with two experimental groups. The statistical population consisted of female high school students in gifted schools in the city of Karaj. The study sample was selected using systematic sampling, and after conducting the pre-test, they were chosen based on anxiety and depression test score criteria. A total of 46 selected students were randomly divided into two groups of 23 people. One group of students received counseling from a school counselor, and the other group of 23 people received counseling from an out-of-school counselor for 8 sessions. The measurement tools were two standard questionnaires: Cattell's anxiety scale and the high school student adjustment scale, both of which had confirmed validity and reliability. The studied students were divided into two homogeneous groups; one group received out-of-school counseling using a cognitive-behavioral approach of Albert Ellis's Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and the other group received conventional in-school counseling. To answer the research questions and hypotheses, analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used, and the results showed that compared to students receiving in-school counseling, the anxiety of students receiving out-of-school counseling improved at the 1% level, and adjustment improved at the 5% level. Therefore, it can be inferred that utilizing out-of-school counselors as a complement to in-school counseling activities can be useful and effective; at the end of this article, suggestions for improving the performance status of counselors are also provided.

(1391), in a study titled "The effect of cognitive-behavioral therapy on the level of adjustment in high school students suffering from abnormal grief," reached the conclusion that there was a significant difference between the performance of the control group and the experimental group in total adjustment after the intervention.
Additionally, in a study by Schroder1 (1990), to achieve changes regarding behavior, level of adjustment, and self-esteem in adolescents with behavioral disorders, using structural equation modeling was performed; the results showed that the path analysis approach had a significant effect on increasing the level of adjustment, school status, wisdom, and also reducing the level of anxiety.
Murray & Malmgren 2 (2005) investigated the effect of implementing a teacher-student relationship educational program on the social, emotional, and academic adjustment of the students under study.
For this reason, this research was conducted to determine the effect of school counselors' performance on the anxiety and adjustment of students, so that through it, cultural and value-based reforms in the field of academic counseling can be presented to society as effectively as possible.
310) As can be seen from the findings of the table, the results of the analysis of covariance test regarding the performance of out-of-school counseling for increasing the emotional adjustment of students were significant at the five percent level.
Specifically, based on the results of the present research, the effect of the performance of school counselors and out-of-school counselors on increasing emotional adjustment and reducing manifest anxiety of high school gifted students was different.
