ملخص الجهاز:
In this article, an attempt is made to examine and analyze the function of auxiliary and supporting forces alongside the national army in resolving internal and external crises, and consequently, the creation of grounds for conflict and tension between the court aristocracy and the governmental apparatus, the policy of mobilization and recruitment of combat forces by stimulating religious and ideological motives, the establishment of military colonies on the border frontiers, and the harmful consequences of such a policy.
On the other hand, forming a mercenary force from various nationalities and races, who showed excessive greed for material interests, not only played a role in resolving crises, even if temporarily, but also provided a certain psychological solace to the kings; because, in their view, the heterogeneous nature of the army and the corps carried the risk of rebellion and disobedience, and the consequences of this action were grave for the future of the government.
It is possible that the entry of such forces into Iran and their attachment to the army began, so to speak, more when the Sassanid kings adopted a trans-border approach and foreign invasions, or when they faced internal government crises caused by the court aristocracy.
To compensate for this, Khosrow adopted a policy of attracting and employing unorganized auxiliary forces from provinces, nations, and ethnic groups adjacent to Iran's borders, with the aim of gaining greater control over internal and external political and military situations and controlling border regions.
