Satirical art has displayed itself in various forms at different times. Sometimes in the form of text, sometimes as an image, sometimes in the form of a text message, and today in the form of caricature. Satire is intertwined with human life and is an inseparable part of it. Man laughs, therefore he exists. This perspective of laughter is tied to his rational and human identity. In this article, an attempt has been made to explain the relationship between a sign and its meaning in a social context, relying on the theoretical foundations of semiotics and emphasizing the perspectives of Peirce and Morris. In this research, the caricatures of the 44th US Presidential Election—which is one of the most important and controversial types of elections, both in terms of the presence of caricatures on news websites and in terms of political dimensions in the world—are examined. All caricatures that supported Barack Obama in some way were collected from Google during a six-month period before the election, categorized, and then content-analyzed by experts in the fields of art, politics, and sociology.
