A very important part of the Iranian identity is rooted in the Islamic civilization of this country and is called Islamic identity, which manifests in the form of Islamic, mystical, and Shia elements, ideas, teachings, and beliefs. Carpet weaving art is one of the indigenous and applied arts that, by utilizing Islamic symbols, concepts, and themes—especially the worldview of the Shia religion such as the manifestation of paradise and its related elements (garden scenes and trees, floral and plant patterns), religious teachings (verses and Qudsi and prophetic Hadiths), visual narratives (Imam Ali (AS) visiting the sick, the Prophet's Mi'raj), the Ashura scene, and Shia supplications and prayers in the form of inscriptions and writings (Dua Nadi Ali, Ziyarat Nama of Ashura)—is a good representative of Islamic identity. This article, by selecting fifteen hand-woven carpets that contain Islamic and Shia symbols, concepts, and themes, searches, examines, and analyzes Islamic identity and its related elements in Iranian carpets.

Research Findings Examination and research on Iranian carpets with Islamic content and insight, each of which manifests Islamic identity in some way, such as Quranic verses, religious thoughts, teachings, and Islamic beliefs in the form of symbols and codes (the manifestation and reflection of paradise and its complementary and related elements such as garden design, fish, Simurgh, and the "Gereft-o-gir" pattern), religious iconic images of prophets and Imams(AS), especially the blessed icon of the Holy Prophet(PBUH), Imam Ali, and Imam Hussain(AS), the Mi'raj of the Prophet(PBUH), plant and botanical elements and motifs such as trees, Esliimi and Khataayi vines as a manifestation of unity in multiplicity and multiplicity in unity, the reflection of Shiite teachings, beliefs, and convictions such as the Nadi Ali prayer and the Ziyarat Ashura in the form of inscription writings in the text and context of the carpet, and many Islamic thoughts and beliefs as part of the Iranian identity in national art, are all among the findings of this research.
