خلاصة:
The present writing is a research paper regarding the nature of myth and a short essay introducing Iranian mythology, conducted as a library-based study. It includes an introduction, the nature of myth, the essence of myth, the origin of myth, Iranian myths—Anahita, Mithra, Atar, Verethragna—and a look at the myths of the Shahnameh. Unlike legends, myth is depicted in an eternal and everlasting realm. Myth is the transmitter of a sacred and divine narrative, and the myths of each nation serve as a bridge for humans in the mythological age between them and the phenomena of the surrounding world, establishing their connection to the universe through the mind. Myth attributes mysteries and superhuman forces to the existence of the universe. Iranian myths and legends are also a reflection of the continuity of an ancient tradition in the culture and language of this meaningful borderland. These myths, which have remained from Iran's legendary past, have not only played an important role in Persian literature but have also entered the visual arts. In Zoroastrian religious texts and the Shahnameh, Iranian myth and legends are depicted.
