Problem Statement: Like all societies, Iran has undergone transformations in various social, cultural, economic, and other dimensions in recent decades. Due to the benefits of modern world technological achievements and communication facilities, Iranian villages are experiencing a transition period from a traditional lifestyle toward a modern lifestyle. This study examines this transition from a generational perspective in rural society. Method: In this article, the generational examination of lifestyle changes has been investigated using quantitative and qualitative methods. In this research, information was collected and analyzed using interview techniques, observation, and researcher-made questionnaires. Findings: The obtained information shows that lifestyle components among the third generation are different from the first and second generations living in the village. However, unlike urban society, this difference does not mean a generational gap in the village; rather, the first and second generations have somehow accompanied the third generation in adopting a modern lifestyle and, in some cases, have been influenced by it themselves. Overall, it can be said that the generational variable plays an important role in the changes created in the rural lifestyle. Results: The path of changes is toward an increased demand for purchasing consumer goods, such that the 'decorative necessity' of living items is greater than their 'functional necessity.' In rural development planning, these changes and their consequences must be taken into account.
ملخص الجهاز:
Therefore, due to benefiting from the technological achievements of the modern world and because of having communication facilities, the villages of Iran have entered a period of their own socio-cultural transformation in which they experience a relatively extensive movement from their traditional lifestyle toward a new way of life.
This movement and change can be considered the result of numerous factors, the most important of which are the entry of modern facilities, the increase in the education level of villagers, generational replacement, the implementation of service and development projects in villages, and at the forefront of these, the availability of communication infrastructures (Rezvanzadeh, 1383: 5).
Additionally, economic growth, the mechanization of work, increased wages, and the expansion of means of entertainment and leisure created a society in the industrial West in which traditional distinctions were somewhat blurred, meaning that each individual and social group could only distinguish themselves from others through the diversity they adopted in choosing their occupation, place of residence, grooming and clothing, artistic and aesthetic tastes, choice of hobbies and how they spent their leisure time, and even their practical, moral, and religious ways within society.
Therefore, if different generations in a society have different meaningful reactions to a stimulus, it strongly indicates the existence of a difference in cultural learning" (ibid:23) Theoretical Framework As mentioned, lifestyle can be applied to a set of behaviors that fall within a temporal-spatial period known as everyday life: clothing style, dietary habits, accent, hygienic methods, and leisure time.
