Abstract:
Many commentators from ancient times have associated the لکنیش " phrase تبین) " exposition of all things) (16: 89) with the Qur'an’s range of topics; The range of these instances has sometimes been minimum and sometimes maximum. In the contemporary period, such issues are referred to as the comprehensiveness of the Qur'an, and they present the same group of earlier opinions as their background. An examination of the interpretive views of verse 89 of an-naḥl, shows that the commentators have not had the same opinion about the Qur'an comprehensiveness throughout history and there have been several views in this regard: absolute comprehensiveness, absolute religious comprehensiveness and restricted religious comprehensiveness. For each of these categories, this article examines the evolution of commentators' views and concludes that the scope of comprehensiveness in each of these genres has changed, not in terms of scope, but in terms of complexity and detail, and this is about the complexity of human issues over the time.
