Abstract:
Movement Pattern Recognition of Tropical Cyclone Using Spatial Data MiningAbstractObjective: Tropical Cyclones in the North Atlantic region are one of the most severe climatic disasters that, in addition to destroying large quantities of construction facilities, cause human fatalities in the affected areas. Investigating and preparing the trend of changes in the spatial and temporal patterns governing these cyclones can help analyze and crisis management programs of this risk and planning of land quarterly. Advancements in data mining and data collection technologies enable a more detailed study of this natural hazards. This issue requires using simple and efficient methods to study the behavior and extract the pattern from the database of this phenomenon. Methodology: This research employs the spatial statistics method to analyze the trends of North Atlantic tropical cyclone movement and mine their patterns from 1995-2015. These analyses show that cyclone occurrence is not a random event, but they follow spatial and temporal patterns. The pattern of cyclones has a cluster pattern with a maximum average nearest neighborhood of 0.74 and a minimum of 0.47. In addition, the value of general Moran's index, the highest and lowest correlation, and clustering with an index number of 0.66 in 2006 and an index number of 0.12 in 2009 were calculated, respectively. In addition, in order to display the spatial-temporal location of cyclones and for better analysis, clustered, and hot spots maps have been produced annually. Results: A better understanding of the cyclone patterns leads to reducing the possible damage. Based on this, as a suggestion for future research, the effect of other parameters such as temperature, water salinity, and atmospheric general circulation systems, which play a significant role in the distribution of cyclones, can be considered in the modeling and data mining of cyclones, resulting more accurate data. Conclusion: Finally, as beneficial research, clusters and hot spot results can be used in predicting cyclone movement in the future. Keywords: Tropical Cyclone, Data Mining, Clustering, Moran Index.
