Objective: This research was to investigate the effectiveness of computer soft ware on learning the science course in mental retarded students. Method: Using a pilot study، 40 students were chosen from the educable mentally retarded students of fourth grade in two elementary schools in Mashhad and were divided into two experimental and control groups. A researcher-made test was designed; the test included 10 questions (in two forms of pretest and post-test) which were in three sections: 1. material 2. human 3. plant and animal. To determine the validity and reliability of the test، the cronbach’s alpha method were used. Results: Using the computer software caused the students' scores increase significantly. Conclusion: Regarding the significant difference of scores in the experimental and control groups، and due to the importance of learning the science lesson، the computer software can be used in teaching this course.
