The aim of present study was to distinguish the difference between consciousness, positive and negative
affects at different levels of moral judgment and to investigate the concurrent effect of consciousness and
affects (positive and negative) at different levels of moral judgment. In this comparative study, 160 male and
female students of Kharazmi University in the academic year 2012-2013 completed the Moral Development
Test developed by Ma, Gordon's Five-Factor Questionnaire and Positive and Negative Experience Scale.
Discriminant analysis was used for the data analysis. Results showed that consciousness couldn’t distinguish
between the different levels of moral judgment; first the negative affect and then the positive affect could
distinguish between the different levels of moral judgment. Negative affect had the greatest role in the
concurrent relationship between the consciousness and affects (positive and negative) in predicting the levels
of moral judgment and consciousness and positive affect lost their diagnosis power. The above-mentioned
findings discussed based on the trait perspectives, Kohlberg's theory on the characteristics of each levels of
moral judgment and the role of affects in predicting the behavior of judgment.
