This paper attempts to investigate the conceptualization of Bravery metaphors in Persian and English Languages. The main question of this study is "How the concept of bravery is constructed and understood in the Persian and English speaking minds and what are the similarities and differences of this concept in the two languages. To achieve this goal, the authors explored the conceptualization of bravery through the cognitive analysis of conceptual metaphors of bravery in both contemporary Persian language database (PLDB) [1]and contemporary British national (BNC) [2]texts. The results of the present study indicate differences in some of the cultural components related to the concept of bravery in Persian and
English-speaking societies and, consequently, differences in valuation over the relevant conceptual metaphors. A comparison of the two figures shows that the most frequent source domain in Persian language is "object" and in English "property ". The conceptual focus of the metaphors of bravery, therefore, is that, prototypically, Persian-speakers regard bravery as "object", and English speakers as "property." The common source domains shared between the two bodies are: "property", "object", "physical force", "upward direction", "action", "matter" and "human behavior" and the different source domains are: "path", which is belonged to Persian, and "drama", which is belonged to English. Theoretical Framework of the present research is based on the conceptual metaphor theory proposed by Lakoff and Johnson (1980) and Trimchr('39')s conceptual metaphor network (2007 and 2011).
