CONCLUSIONS The results showed that aerobic training in older men and consumption of Nigella with honey has a significant impact on reducing the amount of IL-6. As Nigella contains Thimocuin which is an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant material it could be concluded that 12 weeks aerobic training along with consuming Nigella with honey could be effective in reducing the inflammation of elderly men."

the first time‌ a combination of aerobic exercise and consumption of black seed and honey on elderly men was compared and investigated‌.

METHOD‌

This‌ quasi-experimental and applied research was done on 60 elderly men‌ with‌ a mean age, height, weight and body mass index (BMI), respectively, 65/8, 159/8, 72/95 and 29‌/32‌. The‌ subjects were randomly divided into 4 groups of 15 subjects (three experimental groups‌ and‌ one‌ control group). The first group carried out aerobic exercise (walking activities) 3 times a week. In‌ the‌ first‌ sessions of the first month after 2 to 4 minutes warming up,did a walking activity for‌ 20‌ minutes, in the second month 25 minutes and the third one did it‌ for‌ 30‌ minutes. The second group , consumed 3 grams Nigella powder with a tea spoon honey for 12‌ weeks‌ , 3 sessions a week .The third group did it in a combinated form (Aerobic training and‌ consuming‌ Nigella‌ and honey). The control group received no intervention but were followed. Blood samples were collected‌ in‌ two stages, before and 48 hours after completion of the last training‌ session‌ and‌ consumption of Nigella and honey to measure IL-6 level. Statistical analysis done using the Kolmogorov‌-Smirnov‌ test‌, descriptive, one-way analysis of variance (Anova) and pursuit ben – Times test‌ used‌ to compare significance of both groups, at (P≤0/05).

RESULTS

CONCLUSIONS

The results showed that‌ aerobic‌ training in older men and‌ consumption‌ of Nigella‌ with‌ honey‌ has a significant impact on reducing the‌ amount‌ of IL-6. These results are consistent with findings by Castellano et al‌. (3) and‌ non-aligned with the findings of‌ Schulz and colleagues (4). Prolonged‌ exercise‌ can transform the regulation of‌ inflammation‌. In this case the first mechanism is that aerobic training can reduce Gene‌ Expression‌ and Serum levels of leukocytes‌ adhesion‌ molecules‌ and control Endothelial‌ monocyte‌ cells reaction and finally‌ lead‌ to reduction of Cytokines. Since Nigella Sativa is beneficial in reducing fat and weight‌ it‌ can be effective in reducing the‌ levels‌ of inflammation‌ (5). As‌ Nigella‌ contains Thimocuin which is‌ an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant material it could be concluded that 12 weeks aerobic training‌ along‌ with consuming Nigella with

honey could‌ be‌ effective‌ in‌ reducing‌ the inflammation of‌ elderly‌ men.
