چکیده:
زبان فارسی در قرن 13 به بنگال آمد و تا سال 1837 دوام یافت تا اینکه سرانجام در این سال به عنوان زبان رسمی هندوستان لغو گردید. در این محدوده زمانی طولانی ششصد ساله هزاران کتاب به زبان فارسی به رشته تحریر درآمد و دهها و صدها شاعر اشعارشان را به این زبان شیرین سرودند. در این دوران، زبان و ادبیات فارسی به نهایت شکوفایی خود رسید و میزان قابل توجهی از آثار خطی، سند، نقاشی های مینیاتور و دیگر صنایع دستی را برای بنگال به میراث گذاشت تا برایش مرکز سونار بنگلا را بوجود آورد. تهیه و گردآوری مقادیر بسیاری از آثار خطی توسط مامورین هندی و بریتانیایی باعث بوجود آمدن مجموعه کتابخانه ای شد که می تواند مرکز تحقیقاتی باشد در زمینه مطالعات آثار ادب فارسی و نه فقط در بنگال بلکه در سطح بین المللی. فهرستنویسی و طبقه بندی این مجموعه ها باعث شد که آثار ارزشمند ادبیات فارسی برای همیشه حفظ شود. مهمترین آثار خطی فارسی را می توان در انجمن آسیایی، یادمان ویکتوریا، کتابخانه ملی و کتابخانه کاخ هازار دوواری مرشدآباد و سایر نقاط مشاهده کرد. هر چند آثار این مجموعه ها تا اندازه ای توسط فهرستنویسان این مراکز طبقه بندی شده است ولی بسیاری از آنها هنوز نیازمند طبقه بندی دقیق، مراقبت و ذخیره سازی صحیح می باشند. ولی ارزش واقعی آنها در استفاده از آنها در بررسیهای فرهنگی است. به قول معروف: «ارزش دسر، به خوردنش است».
