One of the important fields in transportation engineering is the subject of safety. In this regard, the transportation of hazardous materials is one of the cases that requires special attention due to the dangerous nature of the materials being transported. Therefore, the characteristics and specifications of urban passages used in this direction, as well as the calming tools used in them such as speed bumps and speed reducers, must be reviewed. Speed bumps and speed reducers are presented as one of the traffic calming tools that are used alone or alongside other calming methods to control vehicle speed, change driver behavior, and improve safety conditions for road users. Given the widespread use of these tools in urban passages, having comprehensive knowledge is essential for making appropriate decisions and preventing technical errors. In this research, the technical and executive specifications of these tools and their adaptation to ensure the safety of vehicles carrying hazardous materials have been investigated.

Speed bumps and speed humps are presented as one of the traffic calming tools that, alone or in combination, control the vehicle, change driver behavior, and improve safety conditions for road users.
In this research, first, the methods of calming passages are examined and their equivalents for Iranian urban passages are stated, and a decision-making method for installing them in intra-urban passages is presented, and finally, regulations for implementing suitable speed humps for the passage of vehicles carrying hazardous materials are provided.
After reviewing various regulations and examining existing traffic conditions, the general criteria that must be considered regarding the feasibility of installing speed bumps have been determined as follows: A- Type of passage function: Given the problems that speed bumps can cause in creating stops and increasing delays in passages, their installation in main and arterial passages where their service level is near saturation or at saturation must be prevented.
Safety review of the passage of vehicles carrying hazardous materials In the field of geometric characteristics of the routes used, one of the examinable elements is the existing horizontal and vertical curves; therefore, in this section, we briefly present the results of the studies conducted and compared with the experiences of other countries.
