This article studies the textualized methods of representing ideology in the Interchange English language teaching books and seeks to answer these questions: How do the Interchange English language books, as symbolic forms in the sense used by Thompson, convey their ideological meaning to English language learners? And how are American ideology and lifestyle presented in a natural and universal way in these books? First, all four Interchange books—yellow, red, blue, and green—were studied to extract the components through which lifestyle is represented. Then, the pattern of representing the American lifestyle in these books was discovered and identified, showing that these patterns are the main strategies of these books for conveying American perspectives and beliefs. To follow up on the article's claims, the methodology was designed so that first, four focused group discussions would be conducted to study and analyze how audiences interact with these books. By analyzing the comments of language learners, findings were obtained suggesting that although the lifestyle and culture represented in these books are predominantly American, it is the audience themselves who make choices when encountering what is presented in these books regarding which social customs and habits should be followed. The findings of this writing also show that in many cases, language learners even engage in a kind of cultural bricolage in their own choices.

Based on Thompson's definition of ideology and Bourdieu's definition of lifestyle and taste, this study attempts to show that lifestyle in Interchange books is represented through the use of images and sentences that are indicative of American ideology.
In the second part of the article, which analyzes how audiences interact with the book and the represented lifestyle, the focused group interview method is used, and the purpose of these interviews is actually to validate the findings of the text analysis so that the two-dimensional method of this study is completed.
Although Bourdieu's most extensive discussion is regarding school and the educational system, since our goal in this study is to identify the mechanism of language teaching influence through textbooks and the transmission of a specific type of lifestyle represented in them, and whether such books are effective in creating cultural changes, we used Bourdieu's theoretical framework and his concept of lifestyle to understand this mechanism.
