Introduction: The Persian version of the Strategic Thinking Scales in Iran is all self-reported. It is also not suitable for military organizations. The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity and reliability and to extract the normative scores of STMT military managers’ strategic thinking test based on situational judgment and based on the components of intellectual humility, intellectual inclusiveness and intellectual flexibility.
Methods: The statistical population of this study consisted of all military managers, professors and trained personnel working in the Modarres camp of NEZESA in the year of 2019, out of which 189 were evaluated. The Military Managers Strategic Thinking Test was designed by Weyhrauch (2017) and under the auspices of the US Army Institute for Military Studies in Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences. The test consists of 12 scenarios in which the respondent chooses one answer in each scenario.
Results: The analysis of the research data showed that the structure based on 3 subscales using confirmatory factor analysis was suitable for explaining and fitting. Internal consistency and test-retest reliability coefficients were also desirable. Accordingly, the researcher's assumption that the structure is based on three components of intellectual inclusiveness, intellectual humility, and intellectual flexibility is confirmed.
Conclusion: Research evidence seems to support the simultaneous examination and perception of all three components as cognitive dimensions for military strategic thinking, and this test can be used in military evaluations.
