The Persian poems of khorasani-style poets in different literary sources,including manuscripts,are required to be addressed with cantion due to the varients associated with some of them.one of such poets is Rudki Samarqandi whose poetry products are collected by a number of editors. Yet, in some collections of his poems(in particular, the 2nd edition by Saeed Nafisi) some samples have been included in variant forms_ a practice resulting from in accurate citation of negligence on the part of the editors. Now, because such poems are included in collections as independtly reliable, they need to be re-examined in a scholarly way.the present researchers have done their best(upon careful study of valid copies ) to find the main cause/causes of creation of such variations; this has been followed by suggesting a number of ways to avoid any future inclusion in the next publications.

Recovering the compositions attributed to Rudaki from the depths of these dictionaries, in addition to being difficult, also requires special sensitivity; for example, one of these dictionaries is Loghat-e Fars, for which a uniform text has not yet been provided, and the four editions produced from this dictionary each contain evidence independent of other editions, and this very matter may cause confusion among researchers; furthermore, in versions of this dictionary, some of which were among Nafisi's sources in compiling Rudaki's poems, this sensitivity was not taken into account, and verses in which corruption (tashif) and distortion (tahrif) occurred have entered his Divan as independent verses in two forms and, in some cases, in three forms; whereas these multiple forms should ultimately be considered a single verse and not separate verses from one another.
Nafisi, in both the first and second editions, has included this very verse, citing sources such as: Loghat-e Fars (three corrections: Hern, Iqbal, and Dabirsiaqi), the historian's manuscript (877 AH), Sahah al-Fars, Loghat-e Halimi, and Farhang-e Shoori, as part of Rudaki's compositions in the section of Mathnawi verses of the Ramal meter.
Rudaki, in addition to these sources, he has referred the mentioned verse to two other sources: Athar-e Abu Abdallah Rudaki (Mirzaev, 568: 1958) and Loghat-e Fars corrected by Iqbal, in which the recording of the verse is only as follows, not as the previous form: پیسی و ناسور کـون و گربـه پـای خایه غر داری تو چون اشتردرای (Asadi Tusi, 1319: under ghur) This verse, which is very similar to the first verse, is not seen as an independent verse in the first edition of Ahval va Ash'ar-e Rudaki; Nafisi has quoted it as a variant version in the margin of the first form.
