خلاصة:
With the increase in the publication and production of information in electronic form and the provision of necessary infrastructures to make library repository holdings accessible through computer networks, another type of library under the title of 'virtual libraries' or 'invisible libraries' has emerged. Familiarity of librarians and information professionals with the workflow and method of operation of these types of libraries can significantly contribute to their growth and the enhancement of their scientific level. In this article, the process of collecting, making accessible, and providing information in a virtual library is briefly presented. The purpose of presenting it is to familiarize [the reader] with the way of working and the stages of information processing in virtual libraries, which provides a perspective of the internal activities and the workflow to the reader.
ملخص الجهاز:
The goal of a virtual library is to assist users in finding the required information through resources available in library databases and to perform the tasks of collection building, accessibility, and dissemination.
Virtual libraries collect information related to their subject area using these three methods and maintain it in a specific location as databases, which users can access using the search system.
Editors, by following the template used in the library, identify the required information and prepare and provide appropriate information resources; however, regarding the collection of information via forms, there are matters that must be observed, and the forms should at least contain the following options: - Internet source address - Title of the information item - Brief description of the information item - Method of contact and access to the site maintainer - Name - Email address - Indexing details - Keywords - Specialized terminology - Date of record submission If the above options are not included in an information submission form, there may be incomplete information regarding an information resource, and the library system may not be able to function optimally in finding it, making it available, and matching the information needs of users with the materials available in the library databases.
Flow control stages while adding new items to a library As observed in Figure No. 1, data is collected by editors, automated searches, and information submission forms, and after evaluation and integration into the relevant entries and updating the file under their supervision, it is sent to the databases.
