Therefore, presenting an accurate definition of the country's national interests in oil and gas sector will depend on bolstering endogeneity in production and consumption of oil and gas and bolstering exogeneity in attracting foreign investments and taking diplomatic measures.
The document has set three major goals for domestic oil and gas sector over the said 20 years according to which Iran should enjoy the following status up to 2025: l) The first producer of petrochemical substances and goods in the region in terms of value; 2) The second producerof crude oil in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) by accounting for 7 percent of total crude oil production capacity of the world; 3) The third producer of natural gas in the world accounting for IO percent of global gas trade.
m. gas with the goal of achieving that added value; 5) Attracting foreign investment and resources at about I 00 billion dollars in Iran's oil and gas industry by 2015; 6) Increasing refining capacity of the country to about one mi Ilion barrels per day while emphasizing treatment of gas condensate and very heavy crude oil to increase total refining capacity of the country to 2.
In other words, the main assertion here is that protecting national interest of the country in oil and gas sector in a better way requires an endogenous viewpoint toward production and consumption policies and an exogenous viewpoint toward attraction of foreign investment and increasing diplomatic efforts with regard to oil.
