"Conclusion Although it is very soon to talk about the implications of the current Intifada for the Middle East, we sought in this paper to speculate about some of its possible consequences for the state-society relations in the region.
We argued that the Al-Aqsa Intifada will make states comply with the demands of their societies, hasten the emergence of a viable civil society, and halt the Middle East peace process in its current form.
The demonstrations ensued the Intifada in these countries, reinforce not only the Middle East regions civil societies belief that they are separate centers of power compared to their states, but also their ability to have their respective governments comply with their demands.
(10) The Intifadàs Implications for the State-Society Relations Although both internal and external factors have been important in either preventing or facilitating the emergence of civil society and thus democratization trend in the Middle East, We believe that the external ones, especially since the end of the Cold War, have become more prominent.
