According to many scholars, the new approach to the concept of political power within the context of modern thought begins with the views of "Thomas Hobbes". In fact, by utilizing the new scientific methodology, he sought to understand the nature and how of power by focusing on the concept of power in the field of political science. "Leviathan" is a book, as the largest and perhaps the only unique and unparalleled masterpiece in the field of political philosophy in the English language, that more than other works of Hobbes demonstrates his effort to refine concepts such as political science, law, political power, and sovereignty. He strives in his intellectual system to liberate political thought from the constraints of tradition and resorting to metaphysical principles, and to establish political thought as an independent science based on external reality. Therefore, in this writing, in order to better understand Hobbes' political thought, we pay attention to the social contexts, method of analysis, way of thinking, and new perspective that he presents on political power.
