چکیده:
Some researchers consider Qutb al-Din Shirazi to be the author of important achievements in the science of optics or Manazir. The present research, based on three important books by Qutb al-Din Shirazi in the science of astronomy named Nihayat al-Idrak fi Dirayat al-Aflak, Ikhtiyarat-i Muzaffari, and al-Tuḥfa al-Shāhiyya, shows that Qutb al-Din Shirazi did not discuss the rainbow in any part of the aforementioned works. The results of this research also show that although Shirazi presented new theories in the field of astronomy, he did not have any significant achievement in the science of optics. What is seen in the works of Qutb al-Din Shirazi in the science of Manazir is not only not new, but even lags behind the works of Ibn al-Haytham and 'Ala' al-Din ibn Sahl.

The present research, based on three important books by Qutb al-Din Shirazi in the science of astronomy, namely Nihayat al-Idrak fi Dirayat al-Aflak, Ikhtiyarat al-Muzaffari, and al-Tuḥfa al-Shāhiyya, shows that Qutb al-Din Shirazi did not discuss the rainbow in any part of the aforementioned works.
In Greek and Islamic optics, in order to explain the phenomenon of perspective, in addition to the ray of light, another ray was assumed that came out of the eye and touched objects, causing the object to be seen by the eye.
Kheirandish (Refer to the page image) Figure 11: Euclid's theory to explain perspective The Greeks believed that the visual ray and the ray of light both moved in a straight direction and followed the same laws of refraction and reflection.
Ibn al-Haytham shows that if we accept that the entry of light into the eye causes objects to be seen, and not the exit of a visual ray from it, then all the analyses and descriptions of previous mathematicians regarding vision and the refraction and reflection of rays can still be considered correct.
Shirazi and Optics Mathematicians such as al-Kindi, Ibn al-Haytham, and Ibn al-Sahhl were among those who had many achievements in this science, but some contemporary research works have stated that Qutb al-Din al-Shirazi also had great achievements in this field, especially explaining the phenomenon of the rainbow through the refraction of light rays within raindrops.
