چکیده:
Grammar is one of the fundamental subjects of study in the vast field of Persian language and literature and the study of its elements provides a good basis for research. “Adjective” is one of the parts of speech in Persian grammar and its function is to modify the noun to which it refers. Metonymy is a means of expression that is understood through argumentation and meaning comprehension. One of Saadi’s linguistic techniques is the use of beautiful adjectives and metonymies to make his poetry more attractive. This research employs a statistical approach to investigate the frequency of adjectives containing metonymy in terms of verbal structure in Saadi’s sonnets. Metonymical adjectives, as one of the elements of conversational language, play a prominent role in Saadi’s sonnets. However, Saadi’s contribution to the use of metonymical adjectives is considerably less than that of his contemporaries.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the frequency of elements and foundations of attribute with regard to its figurative aspects in terms of verbal structure, types of attribute, and their relationships in the ghazals of Saadi Shirazi.
In the following, only the common attributes in terms of the grammatical structure of the Persian language in Saadi's poetry will be mentioned: * Simple Figurative Attribute A simple attribute is one in which only one free morpheme is used in its construction; in other words, all attributes that consist of one word and are a single part and lack prefixes and suffixes are simple attributes: “Some have called this attribute simple because simplicity is a structural characteristic in contrast to compound; therefore, it was preferred to be called ‘absolute’” (Ibid: 196).
{Refer to the attached table file} Sometimes Saadi uses derived figurative attributes with pronouns, especially the personal pronoun “I” the poet or the pronoun “you” in the form of a descriptive compound (modified and modifier) or in a predicative manner, which is more emphatic in order to attract the reader and audience’s mind more.
