The covert and clear rivalry of Russia and US after the cold war era has continued by now. The countries that have independent forms of Russia were one of the basic centers of rivalry between the two states. For US influence in the countries is in its great and long strategic interest that has tried to influence the NATO. But at the other hand، the manner of US is known as a threat for Russia and this country try to impede that. Ukraine in this context is a country with strategic - geostrategic and geo economic actor that is very vital for the two powers. It has been the causes of almost rivalry and conflict actions between them. In this research، we have examined the significance of Ukraine for the two great powers and conceptualize the roots of rivalry between them on Ukraine.

Although the competition between Russia and America is not like the confrontation between the Soviet Union and the United States during the Cold War era; However, pursuing these goals by each of the two powers has led to disagreements and confrontations in many vital international issues, such as the expansion of NATO eastward, the collision of political interests of the two governments in bilateral cooperation with the countries of common interest1 in Eastern Europe, color revolutions, the war between Russia and Georgia over the issue of Abkhazia, the American missile defense shield in Eastern Europe, the collision of the two powers' interests in the field of Eastern European countries, and most recently the confrontation between the two countries in the Ukrainian crisis and the Crimean Peninsula, which indicates the continuation of differences and competitions between Russia and America.
To put it better, Russia has formulated a policy whose axis is preserving national interests and traditional Russian superiority by preventing the intensification of divergent trends in the community of benefit, preventing political and military interference by other countries in the region, especially America and NATO (Moradi, 1996: 90, 4: 2013, Spechler), strengthening convergence and cooperation with the republics of the Soviet Union, establishing the structures needed for mutual cooperation, including regional organizations and treaties (Emir Ahmadian, 2005: 58).
