Background and Objective: Studies show that bus drivers are very prone to health-related problems so that their emotional behaviors can endanger the lives of many passengers. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of psychosocial skills training on the emotional abilities of intercity bus drivers.Method: The research design was quasi-experimental with single group pre-test, post-test design. The study sample consisted of 184 bus drivers in Tehran who were selected by available sampling method. The training package of drivers' psycho-social interventions was designed in the form of 9 sessions with the aim of improving their internal and interpersonal capabilities. This project has been started since 2011 and will be implemented in different phases on drivers who are applying for employment in the Company. The duration of each session was 80 minutes hold twice a week. In this study, the Multidimensional Anger Inventory (Siegel, 1986) and the Emotional Competency Scale were used as measurement tools. Research data were analyzed by SPSS statistical.Findings: The findings of the study based on multivariate analysis of variance with repeated measures design showed that the present training decreased the mean of the sample group in most multidimensional anger subscales and increased the means of the emotional competency subscales.Results: Considering the significant effect of psycho-emotional skills training package on reducing anger and increasing the level of emotional competence of drivers, the results of this study can have applications to promote mental health in society.
