چکیده:
The question of the relationship between Hans-Georg Gadamer's philosophical hermeneutics and an open and pluralistic society, and the way knowledge relates to power, is a fundamental one. This article aims to test the relationship between Gadamer's hermeneutical approach and political power, based on the fundamental assumption that there has always been a reciprocal connection between knowledge and power, which are effective in creating and sustaining each other. Furthermore, in contrast to the belief of some thinkers and political philosophers such as Richard Rorty, who believe that among different forms of power and political systems, pluralism and democracy are the only desirable political systems whose effectiveness has been proven throughout history, and therefore do not require theoretical and epistemological justification due to their practical results – namely, the continuous rotation of power and freedom and the better realization of justice (Rorty, 1382) – this article seeks to test the theory that no political system exists without an epistemological foundation and that a suitable epistemological basis must be sought for democracy and pluralism.

That is why traditional or methodological hermeneutics, which seeks to provide a specific method for acquiring truth, understanding, and interpretation, is incompatible with a pluralistic society.
Also, Gadamer, by adopting Heideggerian perceptions of language, not only seeks a way to move beyond subjective relativism but also provides opportunities to connect his dialectical hermeneutics with rationality oriented towards dialogue and understanding.
