چکیده:
Worldwide, annually, traffic accidents cause the death of 200,000 people and injury to more than 50 million people. A more detailed study has shown that the majority of drivers involved in accidents in Iran and other countries are men. The present research aims to compare the psychological factors effective in accidents of female and male drivers, on 208 accidental drivers (18 people or 8.7% female and 185 people or 88.9% male) and 201 non-accidental drivers (20 people or 10% female and 180 people or 89.6% male). These drivers randomly visited insurance centers to receive compensation (accidental) or renew their insurance policy (non-accidental) and answered tests of accuracy, aggression, personality, and reaction time. The results of the comparison using an independent groups t-test showed that there was no significant difference between accidental and non-accidental female drivers and also between male and female drivers (with more than 4 accidents) in all of the above psychological factors. However, comparing male and female non-accidental drivers (with a history of more than 3 years of not having an accident) showed that these two groups had significant differences in the first and third position factors of accuracy and the self-control subscale of personality.
