چکیده:
When applying maximum force, the total forces applied through similar muscles bilaterally are less than the total forces applied through the same muscles unilaterally. This phenomenon is called bilateral deficit 2. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of a strength and speed training program with weights on the concentric contraction strength of unilateral, bilateral, and deficit in elbow flexion. 50 non-athlete men with an average age of 21.57 ± 1.91 years, weight of 72.22 ± 14.31 kg and height of 175.61 ± 3.31 cm participated voluntarily in this research. These subjects were randomly assigned to a control group (10 people) and one of four weight training groups (10 people) who performed biceps curls as 1) unilateral strength, 2) bilateral strength, 3) unilateral speed or 4) bilateral speed. Two workouts per week were performed for eight weeks. The strength group trained at an intensity of 80 to 100% of one repetition maximum in three sets of 1 to 1 repetitions, and the speed group trained at an intensity of 50 to 80% of one repetition maximum in four sets of 10 repetitions. The control group attended sessions without training. Before and after applying the training programs, tests of maximum concentric strength of right elbow flexion (RLRM1)3, left elbow (LLRM1)4 and paired elbow (BLRM1)5 were taken from the groups. Analysis of the findings using inferential statistics MANOVA and LSD post-hoc test at a significance level of P <0.005 showed that there is no significant difference between bilateral and unilateral strength training, as well as between bilateral and unilateral speed training in the variables of right, left and paired elbow flexor muscle strength. Both strength training groups performed better compared to both speed training groups and all four experimental groups also performed better compared to the control group. Bilateral training groups performed better than unilateral training and control groups in facilitating bilateral deficit elbow flexion. Therefore, to compensate for bilateral deficit in sports performed with both hands, it is recommended to perform strength and speed training with weights bilaterally.

The Effect of Weight Training on Strength and Speed on Concentric One-Sided, Two-Sided Contraction Power and Bilateral Deficit in Elbow Flexion 1.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of weight training on strength and speed on concentric one-sided, two-sided contraction power and deficit in elbow flexion.
Jakobi & Cafarelli 4 (1998) also showed that there is a significant limitation in neuromuscular control between unilateral and bilateral isometric contractions of the knee extensor muscle (20).
6 (2008) conducted a study 1 - Vander Voort & et al 2 - Howard & Enoka 3 - Inter- limb 4 - Jakobi & Cafarelli 5 - Cresswell & Ovendal 6 - Kurugani & et al entitled "Bilateral Isokinetic 1 Exercises Reduce Bilateral Deficit of Leg Strength in Young and Elderly Adults," (25).
Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of applying two types of training programs on unilateral, bilateral, and bilateral deficit concentric muscle strength in elbow flexion.
(Refer to the image on the page) Discussion and Conclusion The purpose of the present study was to determine the effect of strength and speed weight training programs on concentric contraction strength, unilateral, bilateral, and bilateral loss in elbow flexion.
These results are consistent with the findings of Yoko Taniguchi 1 (1998) who showed that bilateral and unilateral exercises are effective in creating functional and structural adaptations, and it is possible that functional strength increases are specific to the type of exercise used (40), and Hakkinen 2 (1996) who reported that “laterality” exists in resistance training (14).
