چکیده:
This article seeks, firstly, to emphasize the necessity of expanding historical methodological and epistemological studies in Iran and, secondly, by criticizing one of the definitions recently formulated regarding the science of history, to direct the attention of thinkers toward critical discussions and dialogues. This is intended to pave the way for changing attitudes and methods in this field more than ever by criticizing many prevailing traditions in history education and research in Iran. Therefore, after a brief explanation of some of the main elements and components that constitute the identity of historical science and expressing the shortcomings and inadequacies of the definition provided in the book 'Islam and Iran; A Historical Study', the author has presented another definition of this science.

Fortunately, today many groups of graduates and history professors in the country's universities -- who are often young people -- clearly raise these concerns and strive to distance themselves from the old generation by enthusiastically entering the field of theoretical historical discussions and adopting modern methods and approaches in history education; they have correctly realized that to elevate this science and change traditional and popular attitudes regarding the theoretical and practical applications of this discipline, as well as the capabilities of its graduates in various fields, a new perspective is needed to revive the credibility and worthy status of this science, so they are not forced, like ancient Islamic historians, to write about the religious, scientific, and practical benefits of history in the introduction of their works in order to defend historiography and justify their work.
5 In the article "The Knowledge of History, Islam, and Iran," the honorable author writes by raising discussions about the difficulties of reaching a comprehensive and consensus-based definition among historians regarding the science of history and even determining its subject and scope: "Among the existing definitions of the science of history, the closer we get from ancient times to the modern era, instead of relying on the category of time, emphasis is placed on the role of man and consequently, human reason.
