چکیده:
The issue of the conflict between science and religion has always been one of the most challenging topics among philosophers of science and religion. One of the most important aspects of this issue, which has received less attention, is its epistemological dimensions. In this research, using an explanatory-analytical method, we seek to answer the question: can a solution be provided from an epistemological perspective to overcome the challenge of science and religion? In this article, an attempt is made to first contest opposing and rival theories and then explain how this issue occurs. One of the most important opposing theories is the monopoly of empirical knowledge, which faces many flaws such as the invalidity of mathematical propositions, unavoidable assumptions in scientific theories, the paradox of empiricists' claims, and the limited domain of empirical knowledge. Theories such as the thesis of the independence of science and religion and the methodological pluralism of sciences also do not possess the necessary effectiveness to resolve the conflict; because they severely limit the realm of religion and call into question the complementarity of science and religion. However, epistemological pluralism, through the precise distinction and identification of scientific subjects, can fundamentally resolve the conflict between science and religion, although it does not deny primitive and initial conflicts that are rationally and scientifically justifiable.
