چکیده:
"Guardianship" is one of the supportive, emotional, and economic behaviors in Quranic teachings that has positive individual and social effects. This subject is an entry in the Leiden Encyclopedia of the Qur'an written by Avner Giladi. After providing a definition of guardianship and stating the application of this term in the Qur'an, he pays attention to the chronological descent of verses regarding this matter and briefly refers to the duties of guardians in interacting with children and women under their guardianship. The failure to investigate the concept of guardianship in the Qur'an, the incorrect generalization of instances of benevolence (Ihsan) to the subject of guardianship, the lack of precise clarification of the instance of "orphan," providing an incomplete interpretation of some verses, restricting the meaning of guardianship to economic support, limited reference to primary sources, and overlooking certain important points; these are the most important criticisms directed at the entry on guardianship and the views presented therein, which are examined and critiqued in the present writing.
