Among the topics that have always been subject to doubt after the Prophet is the issue of Khums. Some have raised doubts that the Prophet (PBUH) and the Imams never collected Khums, and that Shia clerics created Khums to provide for their own livelihoods. This article is written in response to this doubt and to prove the collection of Khums by the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and its prevalence; Islam has established precise rules for the purpose of creating justice, preserving and managing public affairs, and alleviating poverty from society; including regulations related to Anfal, Fay', Kharaj, Jizya, Zakat, Khums, Sadaqah, and income tax. In this article, Khums and Sadaqah, which are among the financial pillars of Islam, are addressed. Khums, like prayer and Hajj, is one of the religious obligations communicated by God and was implemented by the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) at that time; during the time of the Caliphs, although it faced disruptions etc., it was given attention and subsequently, during the time of the Imams, the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was followed, and the Imams and their deputies performed this religious duty, and in the era of Occultation, they left its collection to the General Deputies, which has been observed and practiced by the jurists of Islam, and of course, it possesses countless blessings and civilizational effects.
