چکیده:
Critiquing various domains of modern society using the two concepts of 'lifeworld' and 'system', from the sociological components of the theory of communicative action, is Habermas's most important philosophical-social effort in the 1970s. The argument is that every social system needs cohesion and without it will face a crisis; however, social cohesion is not merely the result of systemic requirements but is a linguistic-cultural matter. The expansion of the system into various social domains has destabilized such cohesion. The message of the article is that with changes in the above theory, contemporary Iranian society can also be studied in a critical manner.

System and lifeworld, as a theoretical model for social cognition and the critique of the relations governing it, constitute Habermas's most important achievement in the second volume of the book "The Theory of Communicative Action," titled "Lifeworld and System: A Critique of Functionalist Reason" (ACT, vol.
Habermas, through a revision of the concept of system proposed in Parsons' theory, believes that the system consists of the vast spheres of modern society that are separated from the shared communicative experience in ordinary language, and now these spheres are coordinated through the media of money and power.
In short, Habermas, by relying on the theory of communicative action and employing the two concepts of lifeworld and system, seeks to provide a solution to a crisis that is so critical that throughout late capitalist society has expanded and manifests in each sphere in a specific way (in the political sphere as a crisis of legitimacy, in the cultural sphere as a crisis of motivation, and in the economic sphere as an economic crisis).
